Simpler PBA rules

It should be known by all users that we, as staff members, hold YOU responsible for having a basic understanding of these rules. We aren't going to put up with the "I didn't know!" line. We don't have the rules hidden away.

For a current list of staff, click here
If you don't understand IRC related things click here

General PBA Rules: These apply to all aspects of the game including the Forum and IRC

1. If you find an exploitable bug or glitch, report it to a mod or admin. Don’t post it anywhere on the public forum or the chat because other users WILL abuse it. And certainly don't go asking for cheats or abuse it yourself either.
2. Keep your usernames and messages respectful and appropriate for all ages. Usernames that are deemed inappropriate may be banned without warning.
  1. Usernames and messages are not to have any kind of cussing or swearing in it.
  2. Do not post messages that contain things that are of an explicit or sexual nature.
  3. Messages that use or mimic censored swearing (such as "****") are not allowed. We can read the context that it is used in..
  4. Nicknames and messages that make people believe you are staff (like "admin" or "mod") are not allowed
  5. Do not impersonate the nicknames of other people. This includes near-impersonating people like "Sharks14".
  6. Do not use nicknames for the purpose of insulting others (this includes changing other nicks to make fun out of them).
3. Use proper grammar, common sense, and be patient. Proper communication is the key to preventing misunderstandings.
4. Trade ONLY within the PBA forum, gamesite or IRC. No trading on other sites, trading things from other sites, or trading real-world money.
5. Sharing accounts with other users is NOT allowed. It's unfair and in case of rule breaking we likely won't help you because it's your fault for giving your password to them!
  1. You are not allowed to "give away", sell or trade accounts either, due to the potential for it to cause large problems.
  2. Just don't give out your password at all.
6. No Spamming. Spam is generally "Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages". Generally the context of the situation denotes what is considered spamming.
  1. Repeating words or sentences over and over is considered spam.
  2. Saying the same thing twice in a row or seperated is spamming!
  3. Excessive text and punctuation is considered spam.
  4. No upside down letters. Example : ¡¿¡¿¡¿ sǝɯıʇǝɯos ƃuısnqɐ ǝɹɐ sɹǝʎɐןd ɥɔıɥʍ sɹǝʇʇǝן uʍop ǝpısdn sı sıɥʇ ( Thanks to massy911)
  5. No backwards letters. Example: !egassem sdrawkcab a si siht iH This is also considered spamming.
7. Do not discuss illegal content.
8. Do not advertise non-affiliated Pokemon Game Sites, other mmorpgs or product advertising. You may discuss non-pokemon related RPGs.
9. No asking for personal information or sharing the personal information of other people. This includes real name, age etc.
10. Do not annoy other people with randomness, ignorance, and/or stupidity. This includes asking other players to do things for you, begging for free stuff, or asking to be staffed.
11. Do not harass, fight or purposely annoy other users. Do not troll, be respectful and polite.
  1. Do not provoke others into a fight.
  2. Provocation can be determined by mods from the context of the dialogues, and mods may ban when deemed appropriate.
  3. Trolling can involve violating any of the rules mentioned in this topic, but is usually stuff done in rule 10. Again, context is what determines this.
12. Don't post messages that are in all caps or predominantly in caps. Moderators are granted some leeway for caps, but only when it is absolutely necessary to emphasize a message.
13. Scamming is not allowed.
  1. Scamming is engaging in fraudulent activities to gain money, items, information or Pokemon from another person.
  2. Protect yourself from scamming and only do business with people you trust.
  3. Staff may intervene in scam cases as they see fit.
14. Staff members should respect the decisions of other staff members. Admins have the right to disregard this rule if necessary.
15. Please do not snoop into the database of the game or forum, or post links to there. Stuff is not meant to come out until it comes out, and snooping in there for images or information just lessens the chance of things being released.
16. This is not a dating site. Do not try to romantically involve yourself with other people or ask people to be your boyfriend or girlfriend.
17. No botting, macroing, auto-clicking or any other forms of cheating allowed. Play the game legitimately.
18. Listen to the staff and do not order them around. They want what's best for you and may become involved with any in-game problems you may have. If you feel a staff member is overstepping their power of authority please report it to an admin with adequate proof.

IRC specific rules: In addition to the General PBA rules above, these rules also apply to IRC:
==Network rules APPLY in the PBA channels and any violation will see you reported to the network staff. Your network priveliges may be revoked and we are not to be held responsible for your violations, you have been warned!==

To view the current BitsJoint IRC Network policies click here.

1. Use your in game/forum nickname. Inappropriate nicknames, or nicknames used for the purpose of annoying another user may be banned on the spot.
2. Only 1 nick per person. In the case of BNCs, you are allowed to log in under a second nick only if you are unable to log into your BNC at the given time.
3. #PBA and #PBAtrades only allows English. Use a translator if you can't speak English there. Go to #pba-international if you want to chat in other languages.
4. Do not attempt to do any sort of trading in #PBA. #PBAtrades is the ONLY channel that allows trading right now (pbaauctions is closed). You can also use PMs to trade but don't go mass PMing people with them.
5. Outside bots/scripts that disturb the channel are not permitted in the channels.
6. Be respectful to people in PMs, notices and memos (no swearing, trolling etc.)
7. If one of your accounts has been banned, do NOT go on another and ask to be unbanned. It is ban evasion and both accounts will be banned until further notice.
8. Additional rules regarding trading and auctioning:
  1. Do not tell people to press numbers if they want to example is username : press 888 for suicune
  2. Due to the closure of #pbaauctions, auctions are to be held in #pbatrades only and not in #pba.
  3. Auctions are to start with a minimum bid of 2 million (this is to reduce the amount of auction spam in #pbatrades)
  4. No false bidding. This includes bringing in alt nicks to raise the bid, or bidding amounts you don't intend to actually pay.
  5. Once you start an auction you are required to finish it, even if the winning bid was not the amount you wanted.
9. When "roleplaying," always be fair to other users. No "Godmoding, Invincibility etc..". Allow others to get a chance to show their actions.

Forum-specific rules: In addition to the General PBA rules above, these rules also apply to the forum:

1. Keep your profile/signature website links appropriate. No pornographic-related websites.
2. No stealing fan art, give credit if credit is due. Plagiarism is not cool.
3. Do not remake threads that have already been made by another user. Check the forums to make sure it hasn't been appointed/answered yet. (For questions, take a look at the FAQ and Quick Question thread!)
4. Do not post over-sized picture(s) in your signature. Signature images should not exceed 300px in height total for the user-editable signature space area.
5. One forum account per person. There really isn't a need for more. It is basically a cheap way of getting around the rules.
6. Spamming to enter a clan may result in your post count being frozen, being denied entry to a clan, and being denied the privilege of creating a clan. Spamming in general is bad but the forum has additional consequences for doing so.

For most others, we hope that common sense prevails.

Failure to follow any of the above rules may result in a warning, kick or ban depending on severity and the preference of the staff responding.

Umm, due to the spam and caps rule update, I felt this should be bumped to show as having a new post so people know they've been changed.
